Discussion

This was one of a number of spits excavated across the top of a sequence of three enclosure ditches (012AD07050, 012AD07210 and 012AD07212), in an attempt to to define their relationships in plan. The fills of all of the ditches was exceptionally uniform, and did not become distinguishable as distinct features until further down into their cuts. A single post hole (012AD08592) was defined, cutting through the ditch fills. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3 with 10% chalk inclusions. Some daub, but no charcoal flecking was noted.
